SEO nightmares for webmasters is when they go to bed after happily analyzing the latest traffic figures and resulting sales and revenue generated by their web sites, only to wake up the next morning to find that everything has been wiped out. If this has ever happened to you, then you know how devastating this can be to find your self in this position.
Their sites literally disappear from a major search engine and the result can be devastating, to say the least.
Yet there are a number of ways to avoid such situations;
a) Do Not Try To Trick Search Engines
Many webmasters feel very clever tricking search engine robots with all sorts of tricks and getting away with it. Many times the so-called brilliant ideas come from a SEO service consultant eager to show you as client some quick results. The reality is that if you do anything unscrupulous or that is not above board, your days are really numbered. Sooner or later you will be caught up with. If you are serious about search engine
marketing you need to start by Building Links to your website. Doing it the honest way.
b) You Must Diversify
Diversification does not mean going into all sorts of different lines of business. It just means making every effort not to rely on one source of anything. Whether it is traffic or revenue. For instance if you use your high traffic to build up your opt-in email lists, you will be doing yourself a great favor. You can even use your current profits to purchase opt-in email lists and thus build up our list much quicker. In this way you will be cushioning yourself against any future developments that could affect the major way through which you are currently receiving your traffic.
c) Build a Quality Web Site
If you can use the opportunity to build a quality web site and with it a favorable image and large loyal following, then the effects of changes in search engines rankings for your web site will be greatly limited. Word of mouth alone can keep huge numbers flowing in the direction of your site and can be much more effective than traffic flowing from search engines. Sometimes this word of mouth mainly culminates in links pointing at your site which can also generate lots of traffic on their own.
d) Get Your Web Site Exposed
There are plenty available resources such as web site directory submission services and article submission services, that will assist you in keeping your website ranked in the search engines. Through these web site promotion techniques, your site will gain link popularity and more exposure, leading to future potential clients and higher rankings in the search engines. Articles Submissions are a powerful method of getting quality one-way incoming links to your site, the way the search engines like. In submitting to directories, the amount of inbound one way links to your site are highly valuable to the search engines and will boost your site rankings.

Benefits of Domain Name
• Domain Name Allows You To Change Web Host or ISP Without Having To Change The Name.

Giving your website or your online business a domain name is actually giving it its own identity. Owning a domain name for your website or online business builds the credibility and image of the business. Even for the regular online users, visiting a site through its domain name is definitely better than visiting it through a free site with such a long name!
• Domain Names Give Your Site An Edge in Search Engines Submission
There are some search engines that do not accept submissions from a website with no domain name – meaning the ones hosted by a free site. Lucky if you find a good number of search engines that will accept your submission.
• Domain Names Make It Easy For Your Customers To Remember Your Company.
More often than not, it will be a whole lot easier for your customers to remember your company or online business if it has a domain name. Moreover, it will be easier for them to visit your website using a domain name. Having a domain name will be beneficial not only to you as a webmaster but to your customers and the general online users as well.
Domain names are essential for your website or online business in terms of identity, image, credibility, portability and search engine submission. But the benefits do not stop there. Giving your website a domain name also helps your customers.

Google ranking SEO tips by PowerScribe
Many webmasters overlook an important part of search engine optimization: if you over-optimize your web pages, chances are that your website rankings might drop because your site has been designed for search engines and not for web surfers. Experienced PowerScribe team reveal some tricks of their experienced experts.
Paid links
Google considers buying links to be outside of their guidelines and they might take strong actions against that in the future. Matt Cutts indicated that "Google might take action" if webmasters buy links anyway.
What are unnatural links?
Unnatural linking is linking that wouldn't happen if search engines didn't exist. Unnatural links are links that are built purely to increase the search engine rankings of a website. These links don't have topical relevancy.
The impact of spammy domains that are owned by the same person
SEO experts Rob Lawley and Kaloyan Banev indicated that a webmaster who owns many duplicated websites might get trouble with his other websites.
PageRank is just one of many factors
While PageRank was very important when Google was new, Google now uses many more factors to determine the rankings of web pages:
"PageRank is but one signal. Some signals are on Web pages — like words, links, images and so on. Some are drawn from the history of how pages have changed over time. Some signals are data patterns uncovered in the trillions of searches that Google has handled over the years."
There are many factors that influence the ranking of a web page on Google. If you want to get high Google rankings for your website, then you have to work on all of these factors.
What is a sitemaps XML file?
The big search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask) introduced the Sitemaps protocol earlier this year.
In its simplest form, a sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site, etc.
That information helps search engines to more intelligently crawl your site. The Sitemap sprotocol is a standard that makes it easier to create a sitemap that can be parsed by all search engines.
3 tips to get indexed on Google within 48 hours
Tip 1: Get a link from an existing site
Links are very important for high rankings on Google. The more (quality) links you have, the higher Google will rank your pages.
Tip 2: Create an external blog
Google likes blogs and many blogs are indexed very quickly. Use Google's Blogger.com service to create a blog that is related to your business.
Tip 3: Get as many links as you can
The more other websites link to your website, the sooner Google will find your site. Using software will make progress quicker.

Search Engine Submissions: An Effective Way to Promote Websites
Search engine submission includes the act of submitting specific URLs to popular search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo, to ensure the webpage get indexed. Search engine submission is one of the ways to promote a website. There are two basic reasons of submitting a web site or web page to a search engine. The first reason is to add an entirely new web site as the site operators should not wait for a search engines to find them out. The second is to have web pages or web sites updated in the individual search engine.
How web sites are submitted
There are basically two popular methods of search engine submissions still in use today. One web page can be submitted at a time. Or, the entire website can be submitted at one time with a sitemap. However, most of the search engines are able to crawl a site with just submission of the home page, provided it is crawler friendly.
Webmasters need to optimize their web pages in order to get a good placement in various search engines. Variables like the placement and density of desirable keywords, the hierarchy structure of web pages employed in a web site, the number of web pages that link to a given web page etc., are taken into consideration. For Google the concept of page rank is important as well.
Web sites desire to be listed in top positions in search engines result pages because that is how most people access web sites. Sites that appear on the first page of a search are said to be in the top 10.
What Exactly Is Involved In Search Engine Submission
Search engine submission is more than the act of submitting your website’s URL to the search engines so that they know your website exists, list you in their index and start sending traffic your way. With the basic assumption remaining true, there are a number of faults which reveal search engine submission to be little more than simply a “hello” to the search engines.
First, search engines mostly find websites by following hyperlinks from other sites .Therefore, quality webpage content and quality links play key role in online business. The fact that a search engine knows you exist, doesn’t mean that it will simply “send” traffic to your site. As millions and billions of pages are there to compete with yours, search engines may not drive traffic to your site just because you have adopted the process of search engine submission. Hence, though you submit your URL to the search engines it is still highly improbable that they will start sending significant traffic to your website.
The Flip Side of Search engine submission
Without proper procedure, Search engine submission of a website can cause a site or web page to be removed from search engine databases. On the other hand, Successful search engine submission can get a huge reward to webmaster's hard work. URL search engine submission of any website is full of drawbacks for the honest hard working webmaster or web administrator.
Many factors are responsible for the rejection of Search engine submission of a web page or web site. Many of the webmasters are unaware of the fact that, the choice of a wrong web hosting server may lead to certain URL search engine submission failure of any website.
Now, more and more businesses are realizing the fact that in order to survive in the field of online business, search engine submission is crucial. Those who are not yet aware of the actualities of how search engine submissions works are eagerly signing on, not realizing that they could be wasting their money, and worse, distancing themselves from the search engines instead of getting closer to the top of the rankings pages.
If you’re too busy running your online business to get involved with the technical end of search engine submission, or the task seems somewhat confusing, you can hire a reputable company to do it for you.

Importance of Inbound and Outbound links in Website?
Backlinks or Inbound Links are links that are directed towards your website and are the building blocks to serious Investigate Engine Improvement. The number of backlinks a website has is a sainted indicator of its popularity or importance with explore engines. Search engines, namely Google Relinquish solon accomplishment to websites that know a larger Ware of character backlinks and consider those websites more relevant in a search query.
It is not enough to just have a high number of inbound links; they need to be quality links. For seek engines to determine the quality of inbound links the content of the site is critiqued. The content of the websites you have inbound links with needs to be relevant to your site. The more relevant the inbound links are to your site helps determine the quality of the links. For example if your site is hotel related than linking to a site about SEO Services is not relevant and is therefore not a quality link.
It is very easy to get a higher-ranking using backlinks than it is to influence search engines with external backlinks from other sites, which is why backlinks matter so much in a search engines algorithm system. Recently search engines criteria for quality inbound backlinks has gotten harder. This is due to people using deceptive tactics like hidden links or automatically generated pages whose entire purpose is to generate inbound links to other webpages.
By having quality backlinks you are attracting visitors to your site. You can’t just build a website and expect that people are going to find you without being pointed in the right direction. People previously used Reciprocal Linking to achieve this.
Reciprocal Links were discussed in a recent Google update as one of the targets for its latest filters. In order to boost website rankings through the number of inbound links, webmasters had agreed upon Reciprocal Link Exchanges. This link exchange occurs when one webmaster puts a link on their website to point to another webmasters website. Many of these were not relevant links and were just disregarded by search engines. The inbound links were not counted but the outbound links were still counted which lowered the relevancy score of many websites and caused them to drop off the Google map.
If you are interested in engaging in effective search engine optimization techniques, you do need to have an appreciation of the importance of backlinks. Indeed, when it comes to an effective SEO strategy, backlinks can be a crucial element of an overall campaign of website.
Guides for links:
1. Bad lineament inbound links can’t decrease your page rank but, if you link to a bad Quality web site it will have a bad effect on your site ranking.
Before linking to a website:
1- Browse the site carefully to find out that is a legal site and don’t do illegal things.
2- Inactivity to comprehend out whether it is indexed by operation engines or not. Look the URL of the website to see it is indexed or not.
2. You can boost your situation by linking to high quality sites.
Some search engines consider and analyze your outbound link such as inbound links. May be outbound link is not as effective as inbound links but, those can improve your situation.
Many webmasters are afraid to link to other websites. They think less outbound links is better than more but it is dependant upon the sites that you link to. Link to high quality sites makes your site better look like a more natural part of the web in Search Engines.
Other advantages:
1- With linking to high quality sites your visitors can obtain more info about that topic and so many of them don’t forget where they came from.
2- Webmasters you link to them may link back to you and also your new and old visitors may link to you because of good content and good outbound resource links.
The End of this article: when you want to link to a high quality site website feel relaxed to link to it but, don’t just Stuff your page with outbound links. Consider every thing when using the space on your site.

Low Quality Web Directories by Ravii Kumarr
Some search engines such as Google make it extremely rewarding for a webmaster to list their site in many different directories. Building links from many different websites from different IP ranges meshes your site into the fabric of the web.
Listing your site in a few dozen directories also strengthens your websites relevancy and position. If some of your more powerful links are not indexed for one reason or another your site can still be considered relevant by search engines on many topics based on the fact that you have inbound links from many different IP ranges.
Traffic from Web Directories Usually you will not get much traffic from most directories. I have a site in a fairly popular category of the Yahoo! and DMOZ directories. This month so far they have provided 31 and 24 visitors each.
The single biggest reason to list in directories is that they help search engines understand what your site is about and help improve your relevancy.
Recent Directory Problems Google AdSense makes it extremely lucrative to become a middle man selling traffic. A large number of websites are polluting the web with no information, just a bunch of pages designed to sell Google AdSense ads.
Many directories state that they accept free submissions so they can build more inbound links and then they never accept any sites.
I have a directory of directories so I keep up with all the new directories and know where to submit clients websites. I get a ton of submissions every day and get to see a bunch of directories.
Good Directories Some niche specific directories do not provide static text links but drive a significant amount of prequalified traffic to your site. Many niche specific directories are works of love and provide free listings.
Many directories are focused on quality and provide static text links to your site. These directories not only help send direct traffic but also improve your sites relevancy in search results.
Directories Who List Anyone Similar sites existed in the past by the name of free for all (FFA) pages. Some unscrupulous money hungry parties accept any site that pays them. They place the sites in semi organized categories and call it a directory.
These type of directories are just there to collect money. You pay them, they spend a minimal amount of cash renting links from one or two sites and collect money. Eventually these types of directories get delisted from Google and when they get banned you wasted your money.
Duplicate Empty Directories Created to Sell AdSense I have had about 20 directories similar to spain-directory.com and splendes.com submitted to my site. Not a single one of them listed any websites. In fact I even tried to submit a site to one of them and the site submission page was broken.
Sites such as emfind.com, pearlfind.com, moonfind.com, findeyes.com, beyondfind.com, and findww.com all look the exact same and were submitted to my directory within the past week.
AdSense Directories Adtsar.co.uk is literally a directory of AdSense ads. When that site was submitted to my directory the description they used was "Browse and search adwords for the latest offers which are relevant to you!"
Article Summary AdSense and cheap link rentals have made it easy to create garbage directories to collect your money.
Since directories are becoming such a profitable business model the number of directories will continue to steadily grow throughout the rest of the year.
If they are not spending money advertising or building their brand or if you are unsure if a directory is sketchy ask around at a few directories before spending any money. Site Submission To Attract Visitors to Your Website by Alan Lim
Your site submission to the search engines may be one of the most important things you can do to improve your sales, especially if you have an internet business. This notification can either be done manually, or you can incorporate software or embedded coding to allow this to happen with little additional effort on your part. The notification to the search engine allows your web site to be represented and displayed to those who have completed a query form from the search engine. Because more visitors see your information and are provided a link to your web site, it stands to reason that your revenue will increase when more sales happen.
Optimizing your site for the search engines
Before attempting your site submission, every aspect of your web site should be scrutinized in order to make it work for you in the best way possible. Take advantage of keywords in your articles and links to the web site. Choose industry standard buzzwords and use them in ways that do not mislead the searcher. Use images and titles correctly and with good placement on the page for the sake of the human visitor. Make certain that you have no dead links and that your web pages are set up to easily move back and forth through the various pages.
Links and Contacts
Another preliminary task before completing your site submission is that of checking all your links. It is important that your links connect properly. If you have other links on your web site, they should work well and send visitors where they promised. Consider each link as helping to define the neighborhood where your business is. If you have slovenly neighbors, it will make your own web site look shoddy as well.
Landing Page
Once you have your web site developed and you have completed the site submission, you should pay particular attention to the landing page where visitors will first arrive from the search engine query results page. It is important that the information the visitor sees when they first arrive at your web site be representative of the subject of their query. The visitor should be able to fairly quickly find the answer to his question, the information desired, or the product they want to purchase. If they are disappointed in what they find when they land, it will lessen the chances of them coming back to your site to purchase.
Conversion
After you have finished your site submission and your web site has been indexed on all the major search engines, you still have a job to do before you can consider your web site to be a success. You must 'convert' the casual visitors into loyal and satisfied buyers. There are many ways to encourage visitors to become buyers, but these methods are more likely to be successful if the web site is well constructed and provides interesting and informative data. At each stage of the process of conversion, provide the visitor something that they want or need, even if they didn't know they needed it before.

Is Ranking in Google Hard? by G. Marwick
The truth is that to rank well for a very competitive market does take longer than if you were trying to rank for a small niche market but it is not difficult.
You have to be realistic in your goals. Don't even bother trying to get to page one with "Credit Cards" or "Personal Loans". These are highly competitive keywords and it would take you a lifetime to outrank the current page 1 holders.
The basic ingredients that you need to get noticed by Google are, links to your site, on page relevancy and basic title tag keyword insertion. The last 2 ingredients are no brainers and should be followed as a matter of course. The first ingredient is the most important.
If you don't have links to your site your site is like an island with no connecting bridge. The spiders need to be able to find you from somewhere. Ranking for sites in Niche markets becomes very easy when you focus 90% of you time in building links back to your site. Now not just any links will do. The links to your site must contain the Keywords as anchor text that you wish to rank for. If you own a website on speed boats then the links to your site must have the words "Speed Boats" in the anchor text. You can and should suggest variations of your keywords to those that are linking back to you. Make sure you do not build your links too quickly as this will raise a red flag with Google. It should happen over time so that it looks organic in nature. Get links from all sorts of other websites. It's a bit of a myth that you have to get links from sites that are similar to yours.
To recap as long as you have these key steps covered you will see a huge improvement in your rankings.
1. Links. Lots of them, built slowly and from any geographic location. Anchor text to be placed in the links to your sites. Vary the keywords in your anchor text. 3 Word anchor texts work best.
2. On site relevancy. If your anchor text is "Baby Joggers" than don't write about Baby Cribs.
3. Title Tags: Make sure you have a good Title for your webpage. Make sure your keyword or variation thereof is included in the title.
If you can stick to these basic principles and you are competing in a niche market then you will be guaranteed good rankings as this is what Google is looking for.

Do-It-Yourself SEO - A Beginner's Checklist
There have always been do-it-yourselfers succeeding at web promotion and search engine optimization. In fact, many of the established businesses offering web services today came from humble beginnings, perhaps nothing more than a college student with a laptop, an internet connection, and too much free time. The Web evolves as the result of the innovation and experimentation of individuals. The sharing of knowledge. The do-it-yourself attitude. As text link brokers and mass link networking decrease in value and use in social media increases, it becomes more important for companies to have an internal approach and awareness of search engine marketing. Don't get me wrong; outsourcing to SEO firms is still a smart option. That said, making the most out of Web 2.0 usually requires some level of cooperation between SEO firm and site owner. You don't need to be an expert to know the basics of good SEO practices, and that added knowledge will be a great advantage whether you're working along side an SEO team, or promoting your own site in your spare time. So if you're on a "need to know" basis with SEO, the following points should illustrate what an overall plan should include: 1. Create Search Engine-Friendly Content Unique web content is your most valuable asset, and ensuring search engines can read it is crucial. Text embedded in images or Flash cannot be read, so make sure you use important keywords, headings, and hyperlinks in plain text form. Instead of using images as navigation links, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) makes it easy to format those links to look more like 'buttons', thus creating powerful anchor text as well as making it visually appealing. Use heading tags properly and don't try to hide keywords or text by making it the same color as the page background or shrinking it so it can't be seen. Make sure the keywords you wish to rank high for are used frequently in the page copy but within reason. Now that you've created good content, is it actually being crawled? Copy and paste a page's URL into a search engine to see if it has been indexed. If you've just created the page, it may take a few days to show up. Aside from age, many factors can lead to web pages not being indexed by search engines, such as duplicate content (ie. a printer-friendly version of a page might be indexed and the normal version not, or vice versa); links generated by JavaScript instead of HTML; poor site architecture (ie. using too many sub-directories); lengthy, dynamically generated URLs using special characters; and orphaned pages. 2. Choose Your Keywords Wisely One of the first steps of SEO, this one needs to be done properly the first time or all your future efforts and promotion could end up being wasted. Start by writing down general terms that describe your products, services or web content. Use keyword research services to investigate word and phrase variations. Wordtracker, KeywordDiscovery, and the Google AdWords suggestion tool are good starting points. The goal is to find those niche phrases that your target market uses to find sites just like yours and optimize your site for them. If the phrases do not get enough use by searchers, your profits from ranking for them will be low. At the same time, stay away from general terms that are tougher to rank for (ie. like "art", "computers", "business", etc.) as a great portion of the traffic will be irrelevant and you'll break the bank attaining such competitive phrases. 3. Get Others to Link to Your Site In theory there are countless ways, some traditional and some quite innovative, to get other web sites to link to yours. In practice, it can be easier said than done. Google defines a link as it pertains to rankings and SEO as a "vote" from one site to another. The more quality votes your site receives, the greater chance you have of rankings well. If a well established site links to yours, that link carries more weight than one would from a mom & pop shop or less reputable page. If your site has useful content and is doing something unique, you're already ahead of much of the competition. People need a reason to link to your site, as very few will do it out of the goodness of their heart. Trading links can work, but link exchange networks have decreased in value and won't be of much use in competitive fields. Buying links, if you haven't heard, is a big Google no-no. While entire articles could be written on this topic, here are a few popular methods of acquiring incoming links: - issuing company press releases with a link back to your site 4. Join the Social Media Revolution The collaboration between Internet users and the development of online communities is at an all-time high. Social bookmarking sites such as Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Furl, Reddit, and Technorati offer users a way to store their favorite pages and media online, and share it with others. These services also provide a way to promote your own content or create a buzz over a product or service. Creating a Myspace page or Squidoo "lens" is also a way to network and share information. However, if your goal is to generate sales then you must offer something without the promotional hype. The reality of social media is that popularity is based almost entirely on public interest. If your information or media isn't unique or of interest to anyone, you cannot force success using social media communities. The key to using social media and bookmarking sites to your advantage is to not be shy. Getting your entries and content to the popular pages on these sites requires some hard work. Network with other users, bookmark and share useful content, create eye-catching titles for your entries, and tell your friends and co-workers about the content you have on these sites. However, don't force your employees to vote your entries up - this is social media fraud. If you have great content and simply share it with as many people as you can, it will see success naturally. These four points are a general guideline to follow for SEO. Search engine optimization experts and firms are a good outsourcing option in competitive markets, while the DIY attitude can yield great results for web site owners with smaller marketing budgets. If you're in the latter group, hopefully this helps get you started.
- submitting to reputable business directories such as Yahoo! and Business.com
- be active on related blogs by commenting and exchanging ideas
- if you have clients with web sites, ask if they would mind adding your link in a "partners" section
- participate in relevant forums and discussion boards with a link in your signature
- write and submit original articles to web publications in your field with a link in your bio
- get involved in social media and bookmarking

One way to do this is by joining as many directories as possible. Remember, each directory that you join gives your site another link back. And the search engines come down to links in these directories - especially the bigger ones that have great SEO power. Keep Adding Content Search engines love to crawl for fresh and new content. Sites that don't have fresh content on a regular basis remain stagnant and will not be crawled by search engines. Article directories are one great source for new content for your site. 17 Top Strategies to SEO
1. Picking strategic keywords. 2. Making sure these strategic keywords appear in the crucial locations on web pages. 3. Including lots of relevant text content in the body of the HTML page. 4. Avoiding image map links - some search engines can't follow these - use HTML hyperlinks instead. 5. Avoiding frames - some search engines can't follow framed links. 6. Avoiding dynamically generated pages - if pages are generated via CGI or database-delivery, it is expected that some of the search engines will not be able to index them. Consider creating static pages whenever possible, perhaps using the database to update the pages, not to generate them on the fly. Also, avoiding symbols in URLs, especially the symbol, as most search engines will not be able to read past these, and will not be able to index that page. 7. Using Meta Tags (including tags on images). 8. Including a reciprocal links page. 9. Including a site index / map page in plain HTML. 10. Submitting site to search engines via manual submissions and paid inclusion services, but avoiding unwittingly submitting to the same search engine database, and getting site banned from its index. 11. Remembering to submit the site to the major directories such as Yahoo and relevant minor directories. 12. Not relying on automated technology, it may get pages banned (e.g. Cloaked pages, IP redirects, meta-refresh, auto submissions etc). 13. It is not better to expect overnight success, the longer it takes time for optimization, the better the results. 14. It may seem easy to do in-house, but it will work out cheaper and much more effective using a specialist search engine marketing firm, who are constantly researching the market. 15. Use headings as h1, h2 because search engines interpret headline text as more important. 16. Bolded text is also considered more important by the search engines. Bolding the primary keyword phrase 1-3 times on the page is a good way to alert the engines to the phrases prominence and importance. 17. Image alt tags should contain a brief text description of the photo/image.
