Big supermarket chains are successful because they attract plenty of traffic through their doors. Each person that walks in through their door is a potential customer. Your internet business is no different. Your success lies in getting traffic to your site. Each visitor is a potential customer. The search engines play a huge role in getting visitors to your site. In order to get the traffic you require to run a successful internet business, you need search engine traffic. To get this traffic you need to be listed in the first 20 listings. The first 10 really needs to be your goal. This is the first 2 pages; Here are some thing you need to do. Get the best keywords First you need to do a keyword search. This will tell you what terms people are using to search your niche. Now you need to choose your keywords. This is very important. In your research you will see how many searches are done for a particular word or phrase. You need to choose those that have a good number of searches but not too much competition. Choose long tail keywords (a key phrase of 3 - 5 words)that have a reasonable search frequency for your industry. For example "Internet Marketing": it has a very large search frequency. It also has huge competition. Your chances of getting your site into the top 10 of Google would be virtually nil. Here's how to optimize your site The title tag on you page is the most important tag. This is what Google uses for its listings. This tag is very important in Google's listings. The keyword phrase that your research has shown is the best to use should appear near the start of the tag and if possible again later in the tag. It MUST be used at least once in your title tag. Another thing you must do is have a different title tag for each page of your site. Another thing that can help is having an XML Sitemap. This won't help your rankings but it will help Google index your site changes more quickly. It is important to use Robots.txt. This is the first file the robot will look for each time they visit your site. Having this file will reduce 404 errors appearing in your log file. These are just a few of the thing you can and should do to help your page rankings and thus your listing position in the search engines. There are a lot of other thing you can do but they will have to be the subject of another article.

How To Get A Top 10 Listing With Google
How to Get Websites Listed by Google in Under 7 Days
The web has a lot of general information alluding to the potential of getting your website listed by Google in under a day, or thirty days, or three days and so on. None I've seen actually tell you the steps you should take to achieve this. Some sources provide you with the final steps in the process, such as getting a link from a high page rank site, with many suggesting that a PR 6 site will get you indexed in a day and a PR 5 in a week. The problem with this is that most people don't have access to a high page rank site from which to link to their so far undiscovered site. Following is a list of steps in a process designed to get new domains indexed by Google and the other major search engines in less than 7 days. Importantly, none of these steps involve the placement of links on my own sites that have significant page rank. First, here's what not to do:- 1) Use Google's own add your url tool to suggest your site. This is harmless but it's also a waste of time - and it's slow; sometimes taking weeks to get listed. Also, unless you have links from other websites, it's not guaranteed to work. 2) Use the sitemap submission tool located in Google's webmaster tools.Google themselves suggest this harmless but virtually useless measure. Let's just move on... 3) Purchase a website promotion tool, promising to submit your site to literally hundreds or thousands of search engines. We're moving away from the totally harmless with this suggestion. OK, at the worst you'll waste your 'small fee', but there really is no point in taking an interest in the search engines outside of Google, Yahoo! and MSN, as they control 99% of the UK search market. There's also a great likelihood that you'll be spammed to death if you have to give over your contact details when registering for such a service. Any spam is a pain, but spam you are charged for the privilege of receiving is a nightmare worth avoiding.Other pitfalls are the monthly fees that often accompany an offer to resubmit your site in perpetuity. This runs the risk of being flagged as spam by the search engines and we're trying to get listed, not banned. 4) Purchase a "Get listed in Google in under 72 hours Guarenteed" package from a random company that decided you're a worthwhile victim of their spam. Google get these too...It's simply not the case any more that SEO is a dark art. So called experts may well read this with mouths agape in disgust that I'm giving away trade secrets. I see things differently. Any reputable SEO company should be able to give you a good idea of how they get their results and there should be no mystery when you question then over their practices. My job as an SEO is to rank people fast and well in Google and the last thing any of my clients needs it to be banned by Google due some third party 'black hat' SEO practices. How will you know that the practices of your chosen SEO are not black hat if they're not willing to tell you how they go about promoting your site? How to get listed by Google in Under 3 Days. The trick to this is quite simple and involves getting a link to your site from a high Page Rank site. Over and above the page rank issue, there are two other factors that must be considered.First is that the sites in question must have a capacity for user generated content. You have to be able to create a profile, a blog, an article or a the submission of a press release or the tagging of a favourite site fast and for free.Secondly, and of equal importance, the sites you're going to be linking from must update frequently (ideally, daily). Usually sites that meet the criterion will also, automatically meet the second criterion. What you should do in order be listed by Google - fast. Write what are sometimes known as elevator pitches that lay out your online project's key benefits and a break down of its target audience. 100-300 words is usually optimal for this, though a longer piece is fine, assuming that you have enough to say.Find websites that allow you to create a post, ad, article or profile - anything that allows you to generate some content and use your well tuned, accurate sales pitch as the body copy. You must ensure that you tag and post your content so as to include a link to your website with the full url. Take my SEO Consultancy CV. It's often important to tailor your post to each site you're posting on, as the community will not welcome spam and anything that is written in a discordant style will stand out to moderators. Some online communities prefer a chatty friendly style but this will ultimately depend on your niche. "Ok, great, where should I post it then", I hear you ask, quite reasonably. Caution before catastrophe. It is imperative that you not spam any of the sites alluded to above. Such measures will do you no favours with the community that you are potentially marketing to, as well as Google itself. I aim for genuine websites with valuable and unique content to gain fast and lasting exposure and backlinks via professionally written posts to websites that are related to the kind of marketing campaign in mind. Therefore, you should stay away from cheap, budget agencies that are likely to damage your good name and brand with spam tactics and poorly composed web copy. Please bear in mind that mishaps on the web are often very hard to undo, so the hiring of an SEO professional who puts the work in understanding your particular market is essential.

The Secret To Getting Listed In Google In 24hrs - Guaranteed
You may or may not have heard people claim they can get listed in Google in only 24 hours. It seems that nearly 100% of the people you run across in forums act like in order to get indexed by Google in 24 hours is some miracle feat that can only be accomplished by doing some “top secret” marketing tactic or advanced optimization strategy. Well, the truth of the matter is getting listed in Google in under a day is actually quite easy! First, let’s define what “getting indexed by Google” means… Let’s say that you create a brand new website. For our purposes, we’ll call it www.datamousetestwebsite.com. If we go to Google and enter: www.datamousetestwebsite.com into the search box, we’ll see that no results are returned. The reason no results appear is because our website is new and it’s not “in Google’s index” yet. If you’re not in their index, your site can’t be ranked by them because they don’t know your site exists. So, in order to rank in Google, you must first get into their index. Once your website is in there index and you do a search like we did above, you’ll see the site appear in Google. Your website title, description, and URL now appear; the website has been indexed by Google. Ok, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk next about what NOT to do when trying to get indexed by Google. This drives me absolutely crazy when I see people doing this, and is actually what I did at one time as well. The following URL might look familiar to you: http://www.google.com/addurl.html This is Google’s actual website submission form. They state that you can use this form to submit your website to their index of websites and it can take up to 6 weeks for your website to be placed into their index. I don’t know about you, but 4 weeks is a heck of a long time to just wait for your website to be placed in their index rotation, let alone get a top ranking! My first piece of advice is: Never Use The Google Submission Form. You should NEVER use this form, or any other of the top search engine’s submission forms for that matter. These search engines include Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, and Alltheweb. So, how do you get your website indexed within 24 hours? Let’s stck with our dummy website, www.datamousetestwebsite.com, I will take you through the steps you’ll need to do to get indexed by Google in under 24 hours, guaranteed. Go to Google and enter the broadest keyword you can think of that’s related to your website. In our example, it will be “free icons”. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see a list of Google results. Browse through each website and pay particluar attention to the Google PageRank of the website. Note: Remember, Google Page Rank is measured by the number of websites and the “importance” of those websites that link to your website. In general, the more websites that link to your website, the higher your Page Rank will be. So, as you’re looking at these top ranked websites for the search term “free icons”, you should try to find websites with a Page Rank of 5 or higher. Once you’ve found several websites like this, you should check and see whether or not they have links pages. Usually you’ll see links from their index page that say (resources, links, related sites, etc.) Now, you need to search their website for their contact information or information on getting a link from one of their high Page Rank webpages. Once you find their contact information you should send them an email asking if they will link to your website in return for you linking back to their website. If you do this correctly and professionally, they will respond and will place a link on their website to yours. If you can manage to get 1 PR5 website to link to your website, you will be indexed by Google in under 3 days. If you can get 1 PR6 website to link to you, then you will be in Google’s index in under 24 hours! Sometimes persuading the higher page rank websites is pretty tough, especially if your website is brand new, but there’s another option you can pursue and that is … Purchasing Text Links Purchasing links from high Page Rank websites. The easiest and fastest way to do this is to visit 1 of the many link purchasing websites. Here are a few of the better ones that I personally use on a regular basis. I’ve listed them in order of which I view as the best. Many times you can purchase 1 PR7 link for a 1 month time period for, say, $150. After the month is up, there is no need to renew because you are already in Google’s index! So, basically by paying a 1 time fee of $150 you can be indexed by Google within 24 hours, with no work on your part. Something else that I will typically do with new websites, is I will always link my older, higher PageRank websites to my new websites. If you already own 1 PR5 or 6 website, then place a link on the index page of that PR5 or 6 website and point it to your new website. Leave the link there for 1-3 days and you’ll quickly see your new website in Google’s index! Once you’re in the index, you can remove the link from your higher Page Rank website. It’s as easy as that… So, you can see that getting indexed quickly by Google is VERY easy and doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Once you’re in Google’s index, you can begin to do the things I’ll be showing you in other articles at DataMouse.biz. DM

301 Redirects and Search Engine Optimization
There are multiple reasons to redirect URLs. For one, your web pages may have moved but their old URLs may still live in users' bookmarks or in search engine indexes. Without implementing some sort or redirection, that traffic would be lost to a 404 Error Page.
On occasions, you may also want to register several extensions for your domain name: 'mydomain.com', 'mydomain.net' and 'mydomain.org', and have 'mydomain.net' and 'mydomain.org' automatically redirect visitors to your site, hosted under 'mydomain.com'.
Furthermore, if your company sells several products, you may want to give each of them an individual domain name, and have it point to a specific subdirectory of your main site. For example, if you own a site called 'businessvideos.com' that sells a product called 'Marketing Made Easy', you may want to set up a domain such as 'marketingmadeeasy.com', and redirect it to subdirectory: www.businessvideos.com/marketingmadeeasy/.
There are several ways to redirect domains, however, most of them will get you in trouble with the search engines. The search engine friendly way to redirect URLs is to use what is know as a 301 redirect (you can see how Google and Yahoo! specifically endorse this kind of redirection). Here is my take about the different redirection methods and their implications on search engine optimization:
Meta-Refresh Javascript Redirect
You can redirect visitors by placing a snippet of JavaScript code within the HTML code of the page you want to redirect. With this method, you can specify the number of seconds before the visitor is automatically redirected to the new page. Search engines don't like this method, because of the potential for abuse: you could write an optimized page for a non-competitive search term, and then automatically redirect your unsuspecting visitor to whatever URL you want. For example, it could be relatively easy to write a page about English literature, have it indexed and highly ranked by the search engines, and then redirect your visitor to a casino or Viagra site. If search engines allowed this, users would quickly stop trusting them. That is why search engines penalize this practice, and why you should avoid it.
Parked Domains
You could register an additional domain name, park it, and make it point to the DNS servers of your main site's hosting account, so that when somebody types the additional domain, they will be transported to your main site. However, this approach may lead to search engines listing the same content twice, one for your main domain, and one for your additional domain. In the past, unscrupulous webmasters would use multiple domains to spam search engines and directories, making them list the same pages hundreds of times under different domains. Even if your intentions are good, we don't recommend this approach to redirecting your additional domains, since search engines may penalize your site for duplicate content.
302 and 301 Redirects
When a request for a page or URL is made by a browser, agent or spider, the web server where the page is hosted checks a file called '.htaccess'. This file contains instructions on how to handle specific requests and also plays a key role in security. The '.htaccess' file can be modified so that it instructs browsers, agents or spiders that the page has either temporarily moved (302 redirect) or permanently moved (301 redirect). It is usually possible to implement this redirect without messing with the '.htaccess' file directly, using your web host's control panel instead.
From a search engine perspective, 301 redirects are the only acceptable way to redirect URLs. In the case of moved pages, search engines will index only the new URL, but will transfer link popularity from the old URL to the new one so that search engine rankings are not affected. The same behavior occurs when additional domains are set to point to the main domain through a 301 redirect.
The URL Forwarding Feature
Most domain registrars offer a feature called URL Forwarding. With this feature, you can register a new domain, such as 'mydomain.net', and have it point to mydomain.com (or to any other URL). The problem, however, is that registrars usually do this by implementing a 302 redirect (page moved temporarily). While Google handles 302 redirects very well, passing link popularity from the additional domain to the main one, other search engines don't do this well, diluting link popularity by splitting it between the two domains, and negatively affecting rankings. Therefore, it is better not to use this method, and implement a 301 redirect instead.
To '301 redirect' an old URL to a new one, just go to your web host's control panel, and choose the "Redirects" option. You can then set up the redirect by filling the blanks. You want to chose redirect option "Permanent" to implement a 301 redirect.
Redirecting additional domains
To 301 redirect an additional domain (like in the case of the .net or the .org version of your domain name), you have to set it up as an add-on domain with your web host (some hosts offer this option for free, and some others charge a small monthly fee per domain). If the additional domain was not registered with your web host, you will first have to go to your domain registrar and change the DNS (domain name servers) to the DNS of your web host (you may have to wait a couple of days before this change becomes functional). Once you've done this, go to your web host's control panel, choose the "Add On Domains" option, and set up your add on domain as follows:
New Domain Name: additionaldomain.com (Do not put any http:// or www)
Username/directory/subdomain: additionaldomain (Enter 'additionaldomain' by itself. Do not put any '.com' or 'www')
Password: 123ABC (Enter whatever password you want).
Then, set up the redirection by filling the appropriate box with the URL of the landing page (where you want your traffic to go).
Once your additional domain is redirecting to your landing page, take this one last step to see if everything is working fine: go to a server header checking tool, type your add-on domain in the query box and hit enter. If you get a message similar to this: "Status Code HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently", then your 301 redirect is working.
You can also use 301 redirection for common misspelled versions of your domain name, or for other good domain names that you don't want your competitors to get.bd14582_.gif (185 bytes)

Top 7 SEO Tools
Search engine optimization is a complex process with many facets. Some of these include keyword research, on-page optimization, off-page optimization, acquiring inbound links, and tracking your rankings.
Fortunately, there are many tools that have been created to aid web masters in each of these tasks.
Below I have reviewed 7 of the top SEO tools so that you can quickly find out what your site needs to rise in the search engines.
First up is the "Cool SEO Tool". I'll let you decide whether or not it lives up to its name.
Cool SEO Tool
This tool allows you to compare your site against the top 10 listed sites in Google for a particular keyword or phrase. You simply enter your keyword and the system will begin comparing 9 different metrics for the top 10 rankings. This allows you to quickly compare the Yahoo rank, MSN rank, Google pages indexed, altavista pages indexed, backlinks to page, backlinks to domain, allinanchor rank, age of url, and whether or not the phrase is on the page.
This tool can unveil extremely valuable information on how you can break into the top 10 search engine positions. Try it out at http://www.webuildpages.com/cool-seo-tool/.
XML-Sitemaps
Google wants to make sure that webmasters have a way of communicating information that is important about their sites. To accommodate this, they created Google Sitemaps in 2005. Using this tool, you can tell Google when you have created new pages and how often your pages are updated. To get your pages indexed as quickly as possible, it is in your best interest to create a sitemap for Google as well as for Yahoo.
Unfortunately, finding a sitemap generator that is easy to use can be a frustrating task. However, after a lot of digging, I think I've found one that you will like.
At xml-sitemaps.com, they have created a sitemap generator that enables you to create a xml sitemap for Google and a text-based sitemap for Yahoo. In addition, the generator can also create an optional HTML sitemap for human visitors.
Go to XML-Sitemaps.com for step-by-step instructions on how to get started.
Ultimate Keyword Tool
Keywords are the lifeblood of any site. Choose the wrong ones and your site will quickly fizzle. Choose the right keywords and you will start to see an abundance of traffic as well as sales. The key is choosing keyword phrases that aren't viciously competitive and convert well into sales.
For example, did you know that keyword phrases that are 3-5 words long convert into sales much more often than any other key phrase length? Not to mention, these longer keyword phrases are also usually much easier to rank for.
One of the best keyword tools is provided by SeoBook.com.
You simply enter in a keyword or phrase and hit suggest. Once you have done this, the keyword tools will return a variety of data, including:
- overture suggestions of additional keywords
- top overture bid prices
- estimated monthly search volume
- number of Google, Yahoo, and MSN search results
- Wordtracker keyword suggestions
- Google traffĂc Estimates
- synonyms and....
- additional related keywords using the Adwords keyword tool
For a keyword tool that has it all, go to SeoBook.com.
Link Popularity
For many of the top search engines, link popularity is one of the top ranking factors. Because of this, there have been a large number of link popularity tools to be released. However, after trying out quite a few of them, I settled on URLTrends.com. This site enables you to find out your link popularity on 8 different search engines.
Monitor Your Search Engine Positions
Monitoring your search engine positions is crucial to any successful marketing campaign. To obtain the highest possible search engine traffic, you must be able to monitor any sudden drops in your rankings. If you don't know where you stand, there is no way you can take corrective measures.
Fortunately, there is a tool that allows you to track all of your keywords for free.
This tool allows you to track:
- numerous keyword rankings
- backlinks
- pagerank and...
- daily, weekly and monthly changes in your rankings.

Do your own link analysis atLink Harvester.
Web CEO
I consider this the macdaddy of all of the seo tools. Web CEO combines many of the tools above into one solution. In one tool, you can:

Website Design Classic Mistakes
Having been involved in the internet industry for a large part of my working life, I have spent a lot of time researching and browsing the internet and reading websites, mainly for client design research, but also for occasional personal use.
The one thing that I find most disappointing, is the apparent lack of thought going into website creation and it's purpose, which in turn creates a missed opportunity for many e-businesses to become successful.
My personal perspective on e-businesses and their websites, is that if they don't take pride in their websites and show to their customers a passion for what they do, chances are, they won't take pride in their products, and the passion for providing good customer service will also be missing.
What you must remember, is that your web site is a direct reflection of you and your business. The appearance of your site is the most important factor in determining your potential success rate. In short, if your site doesn't look professional or pleasing to the eyes at first glance, the majority of people will assume your products and/or services to be of similar poor standard.
At the other end of the scale, you could fall into the trap of going overboard with the design and over complicate things with incorporating high costing flashy graphics. You may end up with a great looking and highly aesthetic web site, but the danger with this is that your site may prove unreliable and at times may take too long to load. There is nothing worse for a customer than trying to visit a slow loading site, and most will close the browser window in complete frustration. As i'm sure you will be able to work out, this will ultimately cost you business.
The other major consideration (if not the most important) when designing a website is your content. Not just links, but content with passion, relativity, and understanding to the customer. When someone is searching for something in particular and they visit your web site, they're visiting for a reason. Your site has something they want, Whether this be your product, service, and/or information. If they are unable to obtain what they're looking for, they move on to the next site and so on. To be able to get your visitors to stay and look around your website, you must give them a reason to. Providing them with quality content will achieve this goal.
There have been countless other lists and articles on the subject of website designing mistakes, but I have compiled my own list, from a designer's perspective, of some pitfalls to look out for when considering either designing a website or purchasing a template. They are:
Poor/slow load time
Not very pleasing to the eye
Poor spelling/Grammar
No contact information - particularly an address
Poorly designed navigation
Text too bunched together/hard to read
Broken links
Poor cross-browser compatibility
Over-sized, slow loading graphics
Too many graphics
Horizontal scrollbars
Long, long, long pages/too much information on one page
Overuse of flash graphics
Poor choice of colour scheme
The use of frames
Too many pop up windows
Poor content organization
Advertising banners
Too many different colours
Under construction signs
Remember that the simple, clear, informative and well designed sites are the most successful. If you are a current e-business and your sales aren't what you had hoped, consider the above and take some time to look openly and honestly at your site. Spending money on improving your website is a much better investment than throwing money away on trying to advertise and market a site that just isn't good enough to sell your product or services.
If you are looking for a template or a custom designed website, be aware of the above and be prepared to ask your chosen designer or template provider questions to ensure that your hard earned money doesn't go to waste on an inferior design, which contains any of the above.
Asking questions won't cost you a penny, and in doing so could actually save you a lot of money over the long term.
Getting your website right first time is vital in terms of saving money and time. The earlier your website is up and running properly, the quicker you will be able to reap the rewards of a successful e-business.

One Page, One Subject
Every page on your website should have one topic or subject. Let’s say you have a website about clothing accessories, one page should be devoted to belts, another to buttons and maybe another page is dedicated to scarves. Each page should be optimized with its own keywords. Your pages should have a distinct subject or product.
In short, one subject per page. You may ask why? It’s because search engines read and index each and every page of your site individually, not your website as a whole. Search engine results page (SERPS) also give you a specific page that is not necessarily your home page.
Try typing a keyword in Google Search, the result will most likely be a mixture of homepages and individual pages inside subdirectories of websites that is relevant to the keyword searched. You have to optimize each of your pages for a keyword and one keyword only. So that each of your individual pages will get into the SERPS -not only your index or homepage.
Aside from focusing on the body text on your page, make sure that your Meta Tags are also individually unique. The most important of all the Meta Tags is the Title Tag. Search engines give the most weight to your title. It is also what the engines use on the SERPS. If you don’t have a Title Tag, the first line of text on your page will most likely be used by the search engines as your title. And you wouldn’t want that, do you? Second is your Keywords Tag - don’t use the same keywords in every page of your website. The same goes with the Description Tag. You may have read many times that the Meta Tags are obsolete. But the truth is many directories and search engines still use the Meta Tags and all the major search engines still use the Title Tag. It take little effort to create Meta Tags, so don't waste one of the easiest ways to optimize your website for the search engines.
You may ask: So what if individual pages get into the SERPS? It’s because the more pages of your website gets into the SERPS, the more visitors you will likely get. And that only means one thing: More income for you.

SEO Mistake Like First Time Golfers
Written by: Kenn Schroder
When you start getting into Search Engine Optimization (SEO), a website marketing strategy designed to increase your visibility in search engines, you'll learn that one of the best things that you can do is to put good key words into your content.
Because it is easy to do, however, you can easily do it wrong.
You may start jamming keywords into your pages wherever you can, thinking "the more the merrier." You want higher rankings, but what happens is the opposite - your rankings get worse.
It's like watching a first-time golfer at a driving range.
He wants to hit that ball like the pros - smack it hundreds of yards. He winds up and gives it all he's got. But because of sloppy form, he misses the ball or shanks it to the left or right.
He went gusto on the ball and made a mess.
Just the same, if you go gusto on your web pages - stuffing in too many keywords in a sloppy way, you will create a mess.
The mess is two-fold.
First, putting too many keywords in your web pages can hurt your search engine rankings - it can actually make them go down.
Search engines "know" that in well-written web pages, a keyword phrase can occur only so often, generally five percent of the page's content.
Search engines also know that any one web page usually covers a specific topic, so it can only realistically contain a few related keywords.
For example, if you create a web page on how to swing a golf club for beginners, it might contain some phrases like "golf swing", "golf swing instruction", "golf tips."
Imagine the same page had information about golf putting, getting out of sand traps, golf etiquette, the difference between clubs, teeing off, using wood, using irons, etc.
That would be way too much information on the page - an overload.
The second problem is that a page overloaded with keywords will scare away visitors.
You've probably seen this before - a website that is so loaded with keywords that it looks like someone spilled the dictionary on it.
Using our same scenario, imagine that you were learning to swing your golf club for the first time. You did a search on "golf swing tips" and hey, you saw a listing entitled "Golf Tips - How to Swing Like a Pro."
When you clicked to the page, you started reading this:
"Golf swing tips - Use these golf swing tips to help you swing your golf club like the pros. Begin your golf swing by placing your left hand on the golf club. Then, as shown in golf swing diagram 1, place your right hand over the golf club. This will stabilize your golf grip - a good golf swing tip for beginning golfers."
Yikes! You can't read that without going insane!
Don't jeopardize the readability of your pages in pursuit of high search engine rankings.
Here are some tips to help you in the swing of writing good keyword rich pages that search engines like:
* Use three to five keyword phrases on any one page. Do this for pages that have a decent amount of content, like articles and service descriptions.
* Put your keywords in your page headings, subheadings and bulleted points.
* Write a page summary at the top of the page which has important keywords in it.
* Replace generic terms with your specific keywords, but don't over do it.
As an example of the last point, if you had a sentence like:
"Classes begin at 1pm every day including Saturdays and Sundays."
You could write:
"Golf lessons begin at 1 PM every day including Saturday and Sunday.
This gets the phrase "golf lessons" into the page which is more likely to be searched on than "classes" or even "golf classes."
In conclusion, use finesse and good form when put-ting keywords into your web pages. Your readers will read more of your content and search engines will give you higher rankings.

Know What Google Does To Index
Written by: Aaron Brooks
SEO and webmaster functions are familiar to those with training and experience. But if you are a self made website owner an understanding of how Google works will erase anxious moments of why is it taking so long! Once you submit pages for indexing Google and other search engines can take as much as a month to index.
When the word "bot" is used it refers to search engine software that reads every page you submit, categorizes it, and places it in a data base. Google’s bots are called "The Adsense bot, the Freshbot, and the DeepCrawl." Google according to statistics indexes over 8 million pages.
-The Adsense works on sites that have Adsense. When a new page is set up, the JavaScript in the Adsense sends a "calling" message to the bot. The bot then indexes the page in 15 minutes.
-Freshbot will crawl or examine all the popular pages on a site. A Freshbot for sites like BBC and CNN or eBAY will scan every 10 minutes. Other infrequently updated sites will get a Freshbot look every 1-14 days. The frequency depends on the popularity of the pages. Freshbot seeks all the deeper links on your pages and places them in a database in Google. When DeepCrawl takes place there already exists a ready reference.
-DeepCrawl follows the action taken by Freshbot. Once a month or so it will go over links indexed by Freshbot.
Google being user friendly has great information for webmasters at: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769 . If you follow their instructions and guidelines then your website will get indexed faster. There are instructions for design, content, quality, submission, FAQs and more.
The way to go is to add quality content to your site regularly and tease Googlebot into crawling you pages by getting quality inbound links. More important is to create a Google Sitemap for your site. This will be the channel through which you interact with Google. You can send information on new pages, changes, and important pages on your site and Google will send information on problems created by your website pages and how to clear them.
If you have pages that you do not want Google to index then you need to use a robots.txt file. Instructions on how to create a robots.txt are available on the Google site. If you have any problems or questions the Google team will solve the problems for you.
There are advantages to view your pages through the eyes of Google and any other search engine crawler. Find out as much as you can and consider using special "SEO tools" http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/ to check the pages you create. These help you fine tune your site such that it will get indexed quickly.
Read SEO forums and chats regularly and keep updated on what is happening in the SEO word.
While you are exercising patience you should occupy your time in generating inbound links and marketing plans. Keep on your toes and there are chances your site will get the ranking you seek.

SEO Tips: Ways to Get Backlinks to Your Website
Written by: Alan Liew
Backlinks or inbound links are the key to achieving high rankings in search engines. So to get your website to the top you not only need to optimize your webpages for your targeted keywords but also have to build as many backlinks as possible. There are several ways to get backlinks to your site. Here's how......
Send Link Exchange Requests to Potential Links Partners
Before starting a link exchange campaign. You need to create a link directory that will be used to provide a link back to your potential link partners. Your website is ready to exchange link with other webmasters once the directory created.
You can find your potential link partners by searching on major search engines like Google and Yahoo for your targeted keywords and then visit each website in top 100 or top 200 listings. Make sure that the site you are requesting a link exchange related to yours. When a potential link partner has been found, you will want to go ahead and add your potential partner's link to the appropriate category in your site's link directory and then send an email to the potential link partner stating:
a) That you have linking to your potential link partner.
b) A direct link to the page where the potential link partner listing can be found.
c) How it would benefit to the potential link partner's if linking to you.
d) Your linking details.
To achieve better result, you should not get backlinks to your home page only. Try to get links pointing to your other webpages too. Also use more than one keyword anchor text.
Article Marketing
Writing several articles and submitting them to article directories for publication is a great way to build one-way links. By including a link to your website in your articles resource box, you not only gain quality one-way links but also drive free targeted traffic to your site. Your articles may drive truckloads of traffic if they are impressive. There are hundreds of article directories if not thousands. You can find them by going to Google and entering the search term 'article directories'.
Directories
Submitting your website's link to directories is another way of getting backlinks. Directories normally offer 3 types of listings:
1) Paid listing
2) Free listing
3) Free listing but require a link back from you.
If you choose the first or third option and your website meets the submission guidelines and rules of the directories, your link will usually be listed within days. If you select the second option, you have to wait longer and your website's listings aren't guaranteed.
Getting listed in quality directories with Google page rank 7 or higher such as DMOZ and Yahoo directory can be more beneficial for increasing your rankings than a lot of links from smaller and newer directories. But it is not easy to be accepted by these quality directories.
Press Release
Press release is simply an announcement of an important event for your business. Just like article marketing, you can gain one-way links by writing a press release with a link pointing to your site and submitting it to other websites. To find websites that accept press release, you can go to Google and enter the search term 'submit press release'.
Affiliate Program
If you are selling a product or a membership service, launching an affiliate program is a good idea to increase both your inbound links and online sales. Webmasters that are interested to market your product will place your link on their websites and you get free one-way links.

Understand Backlinks from Search Engines
From USESEO.com
Most Search Engine Optimizers understand the importance of the backlinks in order for a website to succeed. Most search engines take into account of the backlinks quality for their ranking algorithm. We will cover the top three search engines (Google, Yahoo and MSN) here and discuss how they treat backlinks from their point of view.
The most popular search engine, Google, places great emphasis on backlinks. In fact, relevant backlinks is all a website needs to achieve a high ranking in Google result page. Google, however, does not shows all the indexed backlinks when user queries with the link: operator. In addition, Google does not update their backlink index as frequent as their search results.
It is believed that multiple backlinks from a same domain does not have the stack effect in Google. For example, links from forum signatures and directories will have minimum weigh in Google's ranking algorithm.
Yahoo, on the other hand, chooses to display all the backlinks to the users. A search with the link: operator often reveals most of a page's backlinks to screen. Although they display most of the backlinks, it does not mean that they value them as much as in Google. Unfortunately, backlinks are not as important as they are in Yahoo than in Google.
Yahoo has introduced a site explorer interface to aid the webmasters in locating the backlinks and other useful information. Yahoo also provides one of the best API for the web masters' usage.
MSN also offers to display all the backlinks to the user with the link: operator query. The backlinks update in MSN also seems to be the most updated among all the three search engines. It may seems that MSN focus a lot on backlinks but this is usually not the case. Backlinks are not as important as keyword domain in MSN's point of view.
In conclusion, Google is the only search engine that put a lot of focus on backlinks in their ranking formula and since they are the most popular search engine, backlinks are important for every website. It is recommended to use Yahoo or MSN to check for backlinks because they show a more complete listing.

5 Steps to increase Website Ranking
5 Steps to increase Website Ranking
If you need to improve your internet home based business website ranking, have a look at your web pages.
By doing basic SEO work you will be able to improve the way the major SE see your internet home based business WebPages.Because you have no control over your competitors sites you have only two ways of influencing your rankings, and they are:
Your Content
Website Links
Use these 5 steps to Improve the content.
Step 1- Keyword Phrases.
Rather than focusing on a single word, try adding a few words to make a keyword phrase.
If you were searching for your own internet home based business website, what keyword phrase would you type into Google for each page?
Would you look for “home based business” or would you look for “home based internet business ideas” .
Stick to one subject per page, if you have multiple pages , try to stick to one keyword phrase per page.
Step 2 - Keyword Density.
One of the things Google looks for when it catalogs your internet home based business web pages is the density of the keyword usage.
In other words, how often the keyword occurs.
Always use natural phrasing.
Give a strong opening paragraph to your internet home based business web page.
Google may or may not search beyond the first 200 words or so of your web site, but it definitely looks at the first paragraph for keyword density.
It is generally regarded that 5 to 10 keywords per 100 words is acceptable. If you repeat it too often then the search engines might think you are spamming and your page is downgraded or even banned.
So start low and you can always tweak it upwards later.
Step 3 - Heading Tags
Text within the heading tags H1-H6 are given extra weighing by search engines. Therefore it is important to use this tags and not simply use a larger font size.
The headline tags function just like headlines in newspapers and they draw the reader and the search engines.
The Opening HeadlineThe opening headline should sum up the contents of the web page.
It should be designed to attract both the reader and the search engines and consist of your keywords/keyword phrases.
The Headline tag should ideally be less than 40 characters (64 max).
Short punchy headlines are generally better. The H2 tag is commonly used because most people find the H1 tag too large. The opening headline tag is followed by some body text which should contain your keywords/keyword phrases. Your keyword should be in the opening sentence and once more in the first 500 characters (roughly 6 lines) or opening paragraph.Other headline Tags H3-H6These tags are used for emphasis and again should contain your keywords or some variation of it. These are ideally used for secondary keywords. Again the body text following the headline should contain your keyword at least once.
Step 4 - Name Your Pages.
It is vital to give your pages a descriptive name with the title tag.
Google displays search results as a link using the web page’s title. When appropriate, use the page’s keyword phrase in the title.
Step 5 - Improve your Your Graphics.
If your menus are in Flash, they might as well be invisible, search engines tend to skip right over it.
Consider making plain text links in addition to or instead of Flash.
Give your images alt tags. Not only does it make your website more accessible to the visually impaired, it also gives you another chance to place your keywords where Google can see them.
Conclusion
So as you can see, by doing slight tweaking to the content to your web page, this will improve how the SE see your internet home based business web page.
In the end, strong, well organized pages are pages that Google tends to rank higher.
They're also pages that tend to become more popular, which means Google will rank them even higher.

How To Generate More Web Income By Using Easy SEO Strategies Ideal For Newbies
Great advice..
Everybody feel like this when start to write website or blogs.
I still not have my own Host and Domain due to I think that I have know nothing about HTML and SEO Strategies.
I now trying to get and read more and more knowledge about SEO and blogs then compile it into this free blog.
After read below article there was something cross to my head. Yes..it's about incredible e-book entitled Search
Engine Optimization Made Easy, I've found it and download from some Website but still not read it only 4-5 pages that I already read.
I will back to read whole e-book now.
Thanks Cynthia Minnaar for your triggering.
How To Generate More Web Income By Using Easy SEO Strategies Ideal For Newbies
If you are just starting out with your own website or you have had it for a while and have been scared to touch your source code, perhaps you will gain some inspiration from my experience.
I was so excited when I got my own domain and I knew that in order for my web site to appear on the first page of the search results in the major search engines I would have to optimize my site.
I had no knowledge of html or Search Engine Optimization strategies, yet in three months I managed to get my site to a Google Page Rank of 4 as well as achieve top positions in the search results for a number of my keywords.
When I first looked at my source code it was like trying to read a foreign language. You can view your source code by opening your site in your browser, right click on the actual web site and from the menu that appears click on View Source. A Notepad window will open showing you the source code that miraculously transforms into your website when viewed in IE (Internet Explorer) or other browser.
This fascinated me and to try and figure out how all this worked I would have my site open in my browser and the source code open in Notepad and select to study, for example, the first paragraph, then I would locate that paragraph in the source code to find out how this was written. Then I would do the same for an image to see how that was written. Gradually I was able to translate the source code into an understandable language.
Obviously to make actual changes to your site, you do need to access your web space in your hosting account and I would strongly advise you to make a backup of your site before you make any changes, as this will allow you to go back to your original site if you make a mistake. Believe me when I say it is extremely easy to make a mistake with html, just leave out an inverted comma or a greater than sign and your site can go haywire or a link will simply just not work!! I would also advise you not to work on your html if you are tired, as it does require concentration.
I spent some time viewing videos that taught me basic html and I then felt I knew enough to be able to start making changes to my site as well as optimizing it for the search engines. As long as you have a backup of your site prior to making any changes, you will not break out in a cold sweat when your site opens up looking like somebody has scrambled the source code! This has happened to me and it only takes a couple of very minor errors to throw the site into total disarray.
The way I was working of course was not the ideal route to take and it was incredibly time consuming, but being a newbie I knew no better but I was determined to learn. This all changed when I came across an incredible e-book entitled Search Engine Optimization Made Easy. I followed this easy step-by-step guide and I put literally everything in the e-book into practice and at the next Google PR update my site was rewarded with a PR4. Optimizing my site is now ongoing as I am continually fine tuning and adding more content to my site to increase my rank in the search engine results and by doing this my knowledge and confidence grow and the errors decrease!
I certainly am no html expert and tend to work with the copy and paste method. I do not use an html editor I work with the html in Notebook. So my next step is to learn how to use an editor as I am sure it will speed things up even further and make it much easier to correct errors.
Being able to optimize your site does not require that you be a SEO expert, I have proven that newbies can do it too! I think a lot of people tend to avoid it due to fear of messing up their site, but as long as you have a backup there is nothing to fear.
There are great advantages to optimizing your web site as you will hugely increase your presence on the internet, attract organic traffic, which is targeted and free, and ultimately generate more web income.
